For all of you who don’t know I am currently riding my bike from Manchester NH to Jackson Hole Wyoming. I am currently on day 14, I have completed 3 states NH, VT and NY. I am now in Ontario Canada. I started out the trip alone but in Long Lake NY I met up with a kid named Andrew who was biking to Oregon. He was taking the same route that I am until Montana so we have been riding together. I have been averaging about 75 miles a day, my longest day was 90 mi and today was my shortest at 35 (rest day). I am currently in Dunnville Ontario at the public library they are about to close so we are gonna go find a place to eat and then go check out a nearby campground. Unfortunately since it is so early in the season most camp grounds are closed but some times we can still set up camp at them. Other places we have camped so far are: behind a church, on a baseball field and next to the erie canal. I have had great weather so far except it was really cold in the adks. Since being in Canada we have had a killer head wind which has sucked. I am about to get logged off so I am gonna go. I will try to give an update soon and up load some pics.

nick sounds awesome so far! i've been meaning to call you but always forget about the time change. i will call soon!
ReplyDeleteDear Nicky,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you're having an incredible experience! I'm so happy that you've got a buddy to bike with! We'll keep checking your blog. Uncle Steve and Colin left at 5:30 this morning for a college trip. They're traveling through NY, so there first stop was a game at the new Yankee Stadium. Mikey's going to Martha's Vineyard for the week and Kevin and I are going to hold down the fort in Gorham. Stay safe!
Love,
Auntie Alice
Nick,
ReplyDeleteHow's the nips and nuts?
And how's the bike/gear doing? Did you bring too much, too little or just right? Make sure to keep the chain lubed. And check for loose spokes occasionally.
By my calculation you owe me at least 10K just for suggesting this ride. :-)

Nicky-
ReplyDeleteI'm less concerned about your nips than the jewels - take care of those! Periodic adjustments, right?? Good job modulating your miles - and it's great to have a friend in the headwinds - hope you're drafting each other.
Keep up the great work, and have a Brador for me.

We are so proud of you Nicky Boy!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Ms. and Mr. Figgins
Wait - who are the Figginses??? Is this some weird newlywed name calling thing?
ReplyDeleteHumdingers!!! What are the chances!??
ReplyDeleteHey Nick - Do me a favor and check on your fantasy team, Mr Ghost Ship - Moody Marauders are kicking your butt this week! I'm trying to knock the MMs out of first, so throw me a bone, will you???
ReplyDeleteHey Nicky - great posts!! By now you're probably out of WI. I think about you out in the hinterlands when I'm spinning in the gym. You're definitely paying your dues with all the headwinds - in the blustery Springtime, no less!
